nesday before xmas, and came back on tuesday after. it was a 15 hour trip. kinda long, but we wanted lucca with us. the drive there was amazing. we had a great time, talked nonstop and just bonded. great for us - it'd been a ridiculously hectic few weeks. the pic to the right was taken just after winslow, az on the red rocks. lucca is in the background, going after his beloved ball. probably the best pic of me in a very long time - which was a great sign for the rest of the trip!we got to see my buddies david and renee when we stopped over in albuquerque. it's a bit difficult to get back to see my 'burque folk, so it was nice to see them. plus we had some wonderful green chile for lunch!
lucca was such a trooper while we traveled. it got the point that he wouldn't voluntarily jump into the back of the car anymore, but i can't really say that i blame him. he had his bed back there, and we'd stop every 3-4 hrs for pee breaks. but by the time we got there, he was exhausted!
the drive through NM at dusk was impressive. always is. NM is known for sunsets, as is AZ. they'd had a couple big snowstorms in days prior, but only a little of it was still there, which was lucky for us. i'd been dreading it - a major section of the interstate was closed even the day before we drove through.
dave got his wish for christmas - it snowed. dumped about 3 inches on us that day alone. it was wonderful. lucca had yet to see snow, so it was so fun seeing him with his cousin and the neighbor's dogs all frolicking in the snow. it was one of the main reasons i wanted him there with us!
long story short, we had a great trip! we had some awesome food, lots of laughter, and good rest. very rejuvenating for the soul. exactly what we needed. you can see more of my pics from the trip on my facebook page, including those we took while visiting with my godson and his family on the way back through albuquerque again. i hope you and yours had a wonderful holiday! i'll close with my fav pic of the week:
